Courtyard, West Wall

Stucco building, following the Sunset Motel. Same idea this time: simple forms, hard shadows, and a palette a little off the expected. Sage green, chartreuse, brick red and a pale butter yellow, all set against white walls and a slice of blue sky.

The dark doorway at the center is where the painting started. Everything else was built around it.

14.5 x 16", oil and wax on canvas. Cradle wrapped, and it also fits a dark wood frame with a gold sheen, so it can go either way.
